Words of Support

The Victoria Labour Council has endorsed Laurie Szadkowski for school trustee in School District 62 (Sooke) in the Milne’s Landing Zone.

I enthusiastically endorse Laurie Szadkowski for School Trustee. As a parent, I have seen her creative teaching style and focus on practical problem solving to truly prepare my children for the future. Both my kids loved having Laurie as their teacher. Even more impactful are the strong relationships she built with them-connections that continue to enrich their lives as adults. Her passion, dedication and vision will make her an incredible advocate for our schools. – Cheri Sutherland, Realtor

As a parent, Laurie was that principal who greeted you with a smile and a glorious sense of humour that made you feel welcome. Working as a teacher under her leadership at Journey, I appreciated her open, well-informed, and collaborative approach. Later, as a colleague in administration, I benefitted from her experience, perspective, and abundant common sense. I fully endorse Laurie as a candidate for School Trustee. – Grania Bridal, Retired Vice-Principal SD62

Laurie was one of the best principals that I encountered in my forty plus years of teaching in several parts of the world. She is intelligent, realistic and compassionate. She is a visionary who makes wise decisions. She makes these decisions keeping in mind the best interests and needs of the students, parents, teachers and community.
Laurie supports the arts and advocates for them constantly. She wants students to succeed, and she feels that the arts play an important role in the students’ success and character development.
Laurie is a great teacher, principal and person. She will make a wonderful trustee. She is willing to advocate for students, staff and programs in a positive and successful way. You could not get a better person for the position. She is OUTSTANDING! – Lorna Bjorklund, retired teacher SD 62

I am pleased to endorse Laurie Szadkowski for the position of Sooke School Board Trustee.  Her background as a lifelong Sooke resident and educator provides valuable insight and knowledge in regard to this area in particular. I recently served two terms with Laurie on the Sooke Region Museum & Visitor Centre Board of Directors, where she exemplified leadership, organizational and professional skills that would be valuable in the trustee position. A well qualified candidate! – Trevor Price
