My passion for education is rooted in our communities.  My parents were teachers, I attended Saseenos Elementary and Edward Milne Secondary School, and my children were educated here as well. I am now the proud grandparent of children currently in Sooke School District schools.

I earned a Bachelor of Education and became a teacher in the Sooke School District and later, with a Masters of Leadership and Administration, I served as vice-principal and principal in the Milne’s Landing Zone. After retirement, I continued to be involved by supervising teacher candidates for Vancouver Island University.

I care deeply about students and our communities, and I believe in giving back. If elected, I’ll bring my experience as an educator along with perspectives gained through broad governance and leadership as a lifelong community volunteer with organizations such as Sooke Minor Hockey, Girl Guides, and Parent Advisory Councils. As Vice-President for Sooke Region Historical Society, I have helped refine school programs, advocated for youth perspectives and involvement, and worked to secure stable funding. At the museum, I also participated in community engagement, travelling to hear from communities including East Sooke, Otter Point, Shirley, Jordan River, Port Renfrew and Sooke.

Most of all, I’m committed to the future.  With students at heart, I’ll work for quality education, safe and well-maintained schools and sound financial decisions. I’ll ask tough questions.  I’ll listen and ensure community voices are heard.  I’ll work collaboratively with the Board team, ensuring decisions are evidence-based, transparent, and supportive of student success.

As a first-time candidate, I’m not running because I think I have all the answers.  I’m running because I have experience, a fresh perspective, and a willingness to listen. I believe those qualities can make a difference at the Board table. By serving as a school trustee, I’ll support strong public education, advocate for the resources our schools need, and help create positive opportunities for every student to learn and succeed.
